Hey, I’m Olivia
I'm a writer, Substack creator, and bookophile living in the South of France.
I started freelance writing in 2017 as a side hustle. Then, when then the pandemic hit, I took the leap into freelancing full-time. It wasn't smooth sailing. I undercharged, overworked, and learned the hard way that self-employment comes with its own set of challenges.
But growth happens in the messy middle.
In 2021, I got sober, and everything started to shift. Recovery gave me clarity and confidence. The ability to show up for myself in ways I never had before. It made me realize that I wanted more: more freedom, more purpose, more intention in my work.
So I started traveling as a digital nomad in 2023 and eventually found my way to the south of France, which I now call home with my partner.
I loved freelancing. I still do. But after years of writing for clients, I started craving something that was mine. Substack gave me that – a place to write what I actually want to write. A community that feels like home. A business that's built around my life instead of the other way around.
These days, I spend my time running Petal + Hearth, helping other Substack creators grow their publications, and writing about what it means to build a life you actually want to live. I still write for the occasional client, but Petal + Hearth is the main character now.
I also write for hire.
While my main focus these days is Petal + Hearth and working with Substack creators, I still take on select copywriting and ghostwriting projects.
I've worked with founders, executives, and B2B brands on LinkedIn content, case studies, long-form technical guides, blogs, email campaigns, and Substack ghostwriting. My work has helped clients reach six-figure audiences and get featured in places like Entrepreneur and Vogue.
